SweetShort App is built for viewers and listeners who keep following stories regularly. Compared with the web version that works right in your browser, it adds three things: cache episodes locally, keep playing after the screen locks, and get notified when ongoing series update.
If you watch or listen for more than half an hour a day, all three will come in handy.
When to use the app
Who should install it
The test is simple: do you ever find yourself with an unstable connection while following a story? If you take the subway, elevator, underground parking, or flights, caching alone makes the App worth installing. On the other hand, if you only watch occasionally on a stable home or office connection, the web version is enough—no need to use phone storage.

Signals are often blocked; locked-screen playback and caching are more reliable.
Business trips and flights
Offline caching on flights and high-speed rail turns waiting time into viewing time.

On a stable connection with light viewing, the web version is enough—no install needed.

How much space it takes
The App itself is small; cached episodes take up the real space. A 30-minute motion comic or audio drama episode is roughly tens of MB, and ten episodes add up to hundreds of MB. Get into the habit of clearing after watching—you can manage the cache anytime in App settings.

Features
This page walks through every feature in the client one by one: where it is, when to use it, and the details people often miss. There are not many features, but using them right makes a big difference.
Offline cache
Pick the episodes you want to cache on the title page; a downloaded mark appears next to each finished episode. The right way is to cache the amount you need for the next day over Wi-Fi the night before, not download right before you leave. Estimate by your one-way commute: for a forty-minute trip, caching two or three episodes is usually enough.
Resume where you left off
Progress is saved to your account per title, not per device. One detail to know: sync happens when you open the title detail page, so if you pause on your phone and immediately open the computer, you may occasionally see older progress—just leave the title page and reopen it.
Sleep timer
Turn this on before listening at bedtime. It stops playback and pauses caching at the set time, so you won't wake up to find progress jumped to the finale. It lives on the player page: pick minutes, or choose “finish this episode”.
Playback speed
Pauses are part of audio drama performance; above 1.25× speed, emotional scenes lose a lot. You can use it to catch up, but the first listen is best at normal speed.
Background playback
The client keeps playing after the screen locks, and the lock screen lets you switch episodes and adjust speed directly. If playback stops on lock, the system is usually restricting background activity or battery optimization—set the app to unrestricted.
Cache management
You can check usage per title and delete finished episodes individually without wiping the whole title. When phone storage is tight, start with long series—one hundred-episode title usually takes more cache than ten short ones combined.
Web version
Web version: watch without installing anything
The web version covers “I want to watch right now, but I don't want to or can't install an app.” Open it in a browser, sign in, and play—no storage used, no extra permissions needed. Works on work computers, tablets, and borrowed devices.
How to open it
Tap the button on the page to jump straight in—both phone and desktop browsers are supported. We suggest bookmarking the entry, or adding it to your phone home screen, so it opens in one step next time instead of searching again.
What you can do
Browse categories and rankings, search titles, play and switch episodes, favorite and follow series, and check watch history—all available on the web version. Progress shares the same account with the client: wherever you stop on your phone, the computer continues from there.
Two limitations
First, there is no offline cache—you must be online to watch or listen. Second, some mobile browsers pause playback when switched to the background; that is the browser's battery-saving behavior, not a platform restriction. To keep listening with the screen locked, use the client.
Troubleshooting when it won't open
Go in order: check that your network is fine, clear the browser cache and re-enter, and if that fails try another browser. If it still won't open after all three, use the client for now—progress won't be lost—and fix the browser issue later.
When to switch to the client
When you find yourself watching every day and often in places with poor signal, it is time to install the client. When both conditions are true, the improvement from caching and background playback is most obvious.

Three steps to install
Tap download and wait for the installer to finish saving—don't disconnect or clear background apps midway; find the file in your phone's file manager or browser download list and tap it; when the system asks to allow installing from this source, choose Allow, and you can turn it off again after installing.
Four cases when install fails
Installer incomplete—download was interrupted but a file was created, so delete it and download again; unknown-sources permission not enabled—follow the system prompt to turn it on; signature conflict with an old version—uninstall the old version first, which clears local cache but not account progress; insufficient storage—free up space and retry.
Do updates require reinstalling?
No. Upgrade from the prompt inside the client, or download the latest package from the download page and install over the current one—overwriting doesn't clear local cache or your login state.
Alternative if install keeps failing
If you have ruled out all the cases above and still can't install, use the web version for now—progress is recorded as usual—and install the client later when you can; progress will sync over.
Version history
View app versions and release notes
Every release change is recorded on the official download page; version numbers match what the download page shows, so you can verify each entry. The current version, update notes, and download links all live on the official download page—refer to that page for the latest information.
How to update
When the client shows an update prompt, follow it to update. If there is no prompt, get the latest package from the official download page and install over the existing version. Overlay installation will not clear local cache or login state.
What to do if issues appear after updating
Restart the app and try again. If the issue persists, follow the troubleshooting guide in the Help Center step by step. If needed, roll back to the previous version or use the web version in the meantime; your listening progress will not be lost.

Downloading and installing are free. Some titles or episodes on SweetShort can be watched and listened to for free; a title may contain both free and paid episodes. Whether an episode is playable, its price, and how to unlock it are shown in the App for that episode.
Where can I safely download the SweetShort app?
Only use the official SweetShort download page; never download the installer from third-party channels. A simple test for a reliable download page: does it publicly show the version number and update date, and do they match the release notes entry by entry?
Do the web version and the App sync progress?
Once you sign in with the same account, progress is shared across both ends—what you see on the web is the same in the App.
Can I watch without installing anything?
Yes. Open the web version in a browser to watch or listen—supported on phones and computers, no storage used and no extra permissions. Besides offline cache, everything else is there: browsing, searching, playback, favorites, and following; progress shares the same account with the client.
Where are cached episodes stored?
